Groceries for Families: Week 6 - Day 3
Today was a lovely day, with plenty of new faces in the line. As we open each day, I try to slowly walk the line to greet people, some by name. The goal is to welcome people and help them feel comfortable being here, as well as making the relationship we have with them more personal. I was able to pick out plenty of new faces who were here for the very first time. It was great to engage them and simply tell them we’re glad they are here. Lots of smiles.
Groceries today came from Highland Covenant, Bellevue Christian Reformed, St. Louise Parish, and Bellevue Presbyterian churches. A total of 142 orders were delivered and all but 7 went out to families today. We’ve invited some people from the waiting list to come to get the other seven tomorrow.

A duck family has made a nest up against the building. See to the left for picture. People walk by them all day without notice. When the mama or papa come out…watch it! They will defend the nest aggressively.
Today was the last day of the week for personal hygiene items to go out. Thank you to all who brought items all week long. Tomorrow will start the bulk food distribution, and we are ready. See below for a picture of our current holding area, ready to go.

We’re not getting enough emails back from families right now. We’ll change our approach and hope to have more for you soon.
Thanks for your support. I hope this email is helpful to you as you tell the story to many others.
Have a great evening,
